Ian Haines started his role as National Business Development Manager at Vista Health a few weeks ago. We thought it would be a good idea to sit down with him and discuss his role and the goals he hopes to achieve within it.

Hi Ian! It's great to have you join us. Can you tell us a bit about your role at Vista Health?

My Role at Vista Health Is National Business Development Manager and I will be working with Adam, Holly, and the team to help build the Vista Business Brands across the UK. My focus will be on developing strong relationships with existing customers and adding new business opportunities to the group.

Taking it back, what was your background before joining Vista Health?

When I left school I worked in the Travel Industry for several years it was a great industry to be in and I managed to see a lot of great places. My passion has always been in sales and I worked for recruitment companies during the Nineties and then moving into the Healthcare sector in various BD and Sales positions across medical devices and the recruitment industry. I joined InHealth in 2017 helping with the growth of the reporting business as BD manager for the South, helping Fodi and the team win and manage various contracts in the NHS.

What would you say is the aspect of the role you are most looking forward to?

I am joining Vista Health at a very exciting time. The growth of private referrals is phenomenal and I believe there are huge potentials to increase services across all of our modalities and sites. Although I am a strong advocate of the National Health Service I think people should also have a choice when it comes to their health. Vista Health can speed up people's access to vital Diagnostic tests and I am proud to be part of that process.

What are the values that drive you?

Customer service is the key to everything we do, how our patients see us and their experience of the services we offer is key to our growth as a business. I also believe in honesty and transparency, a mistake can be rectified and by being honest we can all learn from them. Innovation and moving forwards are also a huge part of my work ethic, challenge the norm and don’t be afraid to push boundaries.

Do you have a favourite quote?

This is a Tough One…. I sometimes look to David Brent for Inspiration: You just have to accept that some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue”

What are your top 3 favourite podcasts/books/films?

My Favourite book is called Maiden by a lady called Tracey Edwards. It’s about how she put together an all-female crew for the round the world yacht race in the late 1980s. I’m not a sailor but the vision and stamina she showed to start the project and finish the race was unbelievable – if you get a chance it's worth a read.

I love any film that’s mafia-related, Casino, Goodfellas, the Godfather but most of all the HBO series the Sopranos – I think I’ve seen all six seasons at least five times! If you have seen it my favourite character is Pauly Walnuts

If I’m honest I don’t really do podcasts, I spend half of my adult life nagging my two kids to get off the Internet so I spend as little time on it as possible!

Tell us something we might not know about you?

I was a Holiday Club Rep in Magaluf for a Season when I was in my late teens – it was great Fun but such hard work. I once met the late great Robin Williams in a pub in Soho, he was such a nice guy and so down to earth he bought the whole pub a drink. Nowadays it's boring old golf!
