No Pain-No Gain

24 Jan 2019, 18:00 – 20:00

As the general populace is recovering from Christmas and New Year excesses, and joining Gyms and Exercise Classes in their droves, we examine some of the injuries and conditions that accompany this quest for health and fitness, with a focus on Weight Training.

The Event will be presented by 2 eminent Surgeons, Alex Montgomery and Toby Colegate-Stone, discussing case-studies relating to the diagnosis of conditions and injuries associated with Weight Training.

Alex Montgomery- Mr Montgomery is Clinical Lead for Spinal Surgery at The Royal London Hospital (Barts Health) where he has led the department since setting up the Spinal Unit at the new hospital in 2012. It is now the largest spinal trauma unit in the UK, and covers a population of two million people for elective surgery alone. Mr Montgomery's team at The Royal London was the first in the UK to use the robotic assisted arm in spinal surgery.

Toby Colegate-Stone -Toby is a consultant Orthopaedic and major trauma surgeon, with a sub-speciality in shoulder and elbow surgery. His NHS practice is at Kings College Hospital, one of London’s major trauma centres. He manages the whole spectrum of shoulder problems as well as sports injuries and complex upper limb trauma, and specialises in performing arthroscopic (keyhole), arthroplasty (joint replacement) and trauma surgery.
