Check your heart health for a healthier future
What is a Heart Health Assessment?
Designed by our team of cardiology consultants, Vista Health GPs and Chief Medical Officer, this screening service helps you understand the current state of your heart health and whether you need to make lifestyle changes to reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease.
A Heart Health Assessment is a detailed check of your heart to help you stay healthy. It’s especially useful if you:
-
Want to identify risk factors for heart failure or stroke
-
Have a family history of heart problems, high cholesterol, or diabetes
-
Experience breathlessness, heart palpitations, or chest discomfort
-
Are experiencing symptoms or have risk factors such as smoking or diabetes
- Simply want peace of mind about your heart health
Early detection can help prevent serious issues later on.
Cardiac CT is a non-invasive test that uses X-rays. It creates detailed images of the heart and blood vessels. This test can find issues such as blocked arteries, calcium buildup, or structural heart problems. Doctors often use it to check heart disease risk or to explore symptoms like chest pain.
Using CT scans, simple blood tests, and expert GP advice, we carefully examine your heart and blood vessels. Finding issues early means you can take action to protect your heart and improve your health. With clear results and practical guidance, you can feel confident about your future.

WHAT'S INCLUDED?
What does a Vista Heart Health Assessment include?
Your Vista Heart Health Assessment includes a range of scans and tests to get a clear picture of your heart health. Plus, with the expertise of one of our GPs and specialist consultant cardiologists, you will receive actionable insights to improve your heart health. All of this is provided from only £625.
Your Heart Health Assessment will include:
-
An initial GP consultation
You can discuss any symptoms you have and your medical history during your virtual consultation with one of our experienced GPs. This 20-minute consultation allows your GP to assess your cardiovascular risk, that is, your risk of developing problems with your heart and the blood vessels that supply it (coronary arteries). Depending on their findings, they may recommend a CT coronary angiogram.
-
CT coronary angiogram
If appropriate, your Vista Health GP may recommend a CT coronary angiogram. This is a non-invasive scan that uses advanced X-ray technology to produce detailed images of your heart and coronary arteries. It helps identify any narrowing or blockages of your coronary blood vessels and assess your risk of heart disease or heart attack. This, therefore, helps guide the best next steps for your care.
-
Calcium scanning
A CT calcium scan is a quick, non-invasive test that uses X-rays to measure calcium build-up in your coronary arteries. The presence of calcium indicates hardened plaque, which can reduce blood flow to your heart. By detecting these early signs of coronary artery disease—often before symptoms appear - the scan gives a reliable picture of your risk of heart attack. This, therefore, helps guide preventative steps to protect your heart health.
-
At-home blood tests
With our easy-to-use at-home blood tests, you can easily provide samples for expert analysis at one of our accredited labs. Each test is designed to check important aspects of your heart health that affect your risk of heart disease. We assess your lipid profile, including total cholesterol, LDL (‘bad’ cholesterol), HDL (‘good’ cholesterol), and triglycerides. We also measure your high-sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (hs-CRP) levels, an important marker of inflammation. In addition, we check your lipoprotein(a) levels, which can indicate an increased risk of heart disease even if your overall cholesterol is normal. We also check your apolipoprotein B levels, a key protein linked to cholesterol particles in the blood - this is not routinely checked on the NHS.
-
A follow-up GP consultation
Within five working days of your tests, you'll receive a clear report summarising your results and key findings. You will then have a 20-minute virtual consultation with a Vista Health GP or consultant cardiologist, who will explain what the results mean for you personally. If needed, they will recommend tailored treatments, lifestyle changes or further investigations to help protect and improve your heart health.

Is a Heart Health Assessment right for me?
If you are experiencing symptoms of a potential heart condition, such as palpitations or chest pain, it is important to see a GP. The earlier heart problems are caught, the sooner you can receive treatment. This leads to better health outcomes.
When you book a Heart Health Assessment at Vista Health, your assessment will start with a consultation with one of our experienced GPs.
A Heart Health Assessment can also give you peace of mind if you have a family history or health conditions that put you at greater risk of heart conditions or stroke. This includes high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes.
With a Health Health Assessment, you can get answers you need so you can spend less time worrying about your heart health and more time taking steps to get it back on track.

FAQs
If you’re about to begin a healthcare journey, you’re likely to have a few questions. We’ve tried to answer the most common queries here - but if you don’t find what you’re looking for, you can always ask one of our friendly Patient Care Advisors.
What will your Heart Health Assessment check for?
Your Heart Health Assessment will assess your risk of developing conditions that affect your heart and coronary arteries. This includes aortic aneurysms (widening of the main artery that supplies your body with oxygen-rich blood), coronary artery disease (narrowing or blocking of the coronary arteries), heart valve disease (problems with the valves that control blood flow within your heart), heart failure (when it can no longer pump blood effectively) and cardiomyopathy (thickening of the heart’s walls).
What happens after your Heart Health Assessment?
We aim to deliver your results and a report with key findings within 5 working days of completing your tests. Your report can also be sent to your NHS GP. You will have a 230-minute virtual follow-up consultation with your Vista Health GP. They will explain your results clearly and what they mean for you, as well as providing personalised insights to help you improve your heart health. This may include treatment recommendations and lifestyle changes.
Where can you have a Vista Heart Health Assessment?
Our comprehensive Heart Health Assessments are available at London (Fitzrovia), Milton Keynes and Salford (Manchester).
Is there any radiation risk with a cardiac CT scan?
Yes, a cardiac CT scan uses a small amount of ionising radiation. The risk is very low. The scan is only suggested when its benefits outweigh the risks.
The radiation from a cardiac CT scan is similar to what you'd get from natural background radiation over one to three years. It’s also like the radiation from several long flights. Our modern CT scanners use advanced technology to minimise radiation exposure. Our Vista GPs will only recommend the scan if it is clinically appropriate and safe for you.
